Our hands capture our dreams and shape our futures”
About

Taking impressions and castings from life has been practiced for centuries. Combining her skills as a classically trained artisan and using the finest materials available, Vanessa Hoheb has taken this time honored tradition and elevated it to an art form.
Making hand castings of couples recently engaged or celebrating anniversaries, and of people whose hands are an important part of their persona such as musicians, surgeons and artists, Vanessa faithfully reproduces every detail using meticulous craftsmanship.
The bronze and sterling castings are an enduring statement to the legacy of the individuals and are as personal and unique as the people whose lives they reflect. They capture a moment in time and are destined to become not only a treasured art object, but a family heirloom to be admired and cherished for generations to come.
Process
The mold process is simple and is completed in about an hour, using materials specially formulated for use on the skin. The bronze and sterling castings are produced using the traditional lost wax foundry process. Vanessa personally oversees each step of the casting process, from making the wax positive from the master mold to the final patina or color and mounting on a marble base. Each casting is hand-engraved with the subject’s name and date. The castings can be produced as unique objects or in an editioned series.
